Balls

Everybody else was so excited about the adult ball pit when it opened.

It was just one of those things people never seem to grow out of.

Except for Kate.

She would forever hate the person who had ruined her life. They had done it by telling her about children occasionally throwing up in ball pits and the evidence being naturally concealed there. She didn’t even remember who it was. It was years ago. But they had ruined her life.

Her dreams were haunted by heinous secrets lurking amid brightly coloured spherical fun. Her friends loved going to the ball pit, and she would have to sit on the side, itching to join in, but dreading the moment when they encountered her worst fear. Even if she stayed home she thought about it.

Damn that person, whoever they were.
